Overview
The AGU University, College of Islamic Studies offers BSc, MSc, and Doctorate degrees to those who wish to increase their knowledge in various Islamic fields and specializations, in addition to further their careers, whether they are pursuing jobs in religious organizations or Da’wa or on a personal level.
Our educational programs are distinguished by a high degree of student interaction and case study analyses, even though all sessions have a lecture component.
The Islamic Studies faculty at American Global University (AGU) aspires to be a leading academic excellence college, dedicated to fostering a profound and accurate understanding of the core tenet of Islamic monotheism, Tawhid. To contribute to building an Islamic generation that sees Tawhid as a basic source of all Islamic sciences and studies.
Equip students with an in-depth knowledge of Islamic sciences, with a strong emphasis on the concept of Tawhid (monotheism), enabling them to understand and articulate the fundamental beliefs of Islam.
Develop a thorough understanding of Islamic law (Sharia) and its applications, covering various schools of Jurisprudence and their rules and historical and contemporary interpretations.
Introducing the student to a range of topics associated with studying the Qur’an and Hadith, including revelation, the causes for revelation, the miracle of the Qur’an, manuscripts, abrogated texts, recitations, and interpretative concepts. In addition to an introduction to Hadith; efforts of Hadith Scholars, the many types of Hadith, Scholarship of Hadith, scholarly publication on Hadith, chain studies, the reasons for accepting and rejecting hadith.
Provide students with a broad understanding of the historical development of Islamic civilization, including its contributions to various fields such as humanity and applied sciences.
Foster critical thinking and analytical skills through the study of classical and contemporary Islamic texts, encouraging students to engage with diverse perspectives and scholarly debates.
Cultivate the ability to conduct rigorous academic research in Islamic Studies, utilizing appropriate methodologies and resources, and contributing original insights to the field.
Ensure proficiency in classical Arabic, the primary language of Islamic texts, and offer opportunities to learn other relevant languages to access a wider range of sources.
Promote ethical reasoning and intercultural competence, preparing students to navigate and contribute positively to a globalized world with an understanding of Islamic ethics and values.
Encourage active participation in community service and leadership roles, fostering a sense of responsibility and the ability to address contemporary issues facing Muslim communities. And to be leader in Islamic Da’wa.
Prepare graduates for various career paths, including academia, education, community leadership, public service, and further advanced studies in Islamic Studies or related fields.
Admissions Requirements
For acceptance into undergraduate degree of Islamic Studies at the university, applicant must have a high school diploma recognized by the authority that issued him the certificate.
Graduation Requirements
The Bachelor of Islamic studies program consists of a program requirement of 132 credit hours, including 72 credits of Core fields Courses, 30 credits of Integrative Studies Courses, and 30 credits of Elective Courses. Students must complete One – Hundred – Thirty Two (132) prescribed credit hours with a program minimum grade average of 2.0 cumulative GPA.
Students must apply for graduation and meet all academic and financial requirements. Upon graduation and fulfillment of all graduation requirements, students will receive a Bachelor of Islamic studies.
